The Association of Women Surgeons (AWS) Glasgow provides female medical students with direct access to consultants across every surgical specialty, through hands-on workshops, a national conference, and a structured mentorship scheme. The society is run by students and supported by the surgical community across Scotland.
AWS Glasgow is the University of Glasgow's affiliate branch of the Association of Women Surgeons. Tashi Maseland and a group of medical students founded the society in Glasgow in 2020, and it has grown into one of the university's most active student-led surgical societies since.
Our events combine consultant-led talks with hands-on workshops, covering essential skills across different specialties, alongside standalone events such as Battle of the Surgical Specialties.
